Howe Green attains CE mark for structural steel

When we acquired the assets of steel fabrication specialists VTS Hertford earlier this year we immediately set out to attain CE Marking for our structural steelwork, a standard that became mandatory on 1st July.

howe green acquires steel fabrication company vts hertfordUnder the Construction Products Regulation, there are now legal obligations for manufacturers, distributors and importers of construction products used within the EU to CE Mark their products where they are covered by either a harmonised standard or European Technical Assessment. This applies not only to constituent products such as steel beams, frames and bolts etc but also to fabricated elements and systems made from CE Marked products.

Richard Centa, our Sales and Marketing Director comments:

"Presently, there's no harmonised standard for access covers but no doubt it will come. We have the CE Mark already for our linear drainage products and it was important to get the processes in place and complete the audit as quickly as possible for our new structural steel fabrication business. It is a sizeable commitment, both in terms of the money and time invested but the CE Mark provides further confirmation that we manufacture products that meet all of the 'Essential Characteristics' for public safety as defined in the products harmonised standard."
