In Our Industry... Export Statistics Show Global Markets Are Key

The Office for National Statistics said that imports and exports rose to their highest level for almost two years in June giving UK manufacturing a long-awaited glimmer of hope. Exports increased by 4.3% to £22.4bn, with the value of goods bought by non-European countries reaching an all-time high. So, with the global trade deficit shrinking by more than expected, it seems that we all continue to look to exports to lead the UK recovery.

At Howe Green, we have recognised the importance of our overseas business for a number of years, and in these challenging times, we are certainly maintaining our focus on building new global relationships to take us further into Europe and beyond.

Our international distributor network has grown considerably in the last two years and in January Burdens Western Australia became our latest partner covering our Asia Pacific business together with SK Engineering in Hong Kong.

In the Middle East, our distributors continue to fight hard in extremely tough market conditions and we were delighted when Mac Al Gurg, our long term partner in Dubai, secured specification for Howe Green 5000 Series aluminium panels and frames for the 5.9million square foot, Mirdiff City Centre mall which opened in March.

The unpredictability and uncertainty of construction spending in the US remains a hot topic, but there are undoubtedly opportunities for pioneering UK manufacturers and the plan to take our product stateside is underway and already showing positive signs. Watch this space, we hope to be contributing more to the UK export statistics in the very near future.

Howe Green currently has distribution in over 13 countries in Europe, South America, Asia and the Middle East.
